About Me!
Over the past seven years, I have proudly served as an educational assistant for students with special needs in the Peel and Halton School Board districts. This role has fueled my passion for inclusive education and inspired my pursuit of a Bachelor of Education at Laurier University. My ultimate goal is to become a special education teacher or a guidance counsellor, where I can support students in developing their minds and hearts, achieving both their personal goals and the expectations of the educational curriculum, and contributing positively to the world. My approach to building relationships with students is rooted in connection, mutual respect, and humor. I strive to be good-natured, caring, and supportive, creating an inclusive environment where diversity is appreciated and every student feels valued.
In my final year of the Bachelor of Education program, I have grown significantly as a professional by embracing the five core practices of community, pedagogy, professionalism, knowledge, and learner-centred approaches. Through community engagement, I have collaborated with peers and school staff to design inclusive strategies that foster belonging. In pedagogy, I have honed my ability to differentiate instruction, ensuring all students, including those with special needs, can access and thrive in learning. Professionalism has been a key focus, as I have reflected on my practice through placements, sought feedback, and modeled ethical behavior. Expanding my knowledge of evidence-based strategies, such as Universal Design for Learning, has allowed me to meet diverse student needs effectively. Lastly, my learner-centred approach has deepened as I prioritize student voice, interests, and strengths, ensuring every child feels heard and supported in their journey. These experiences have equipped me to step into a teaching role with confidence, compassion, and a commitment to continuous growth.
